On this bachelor’s chemistry degree, you’ll gain the skills and knowledge you need to make a difference to our world and society. Chemistry plays a vital role in tackling global challenges - from improving human health to addressing climate change.

You’ll explore topics that spark your curiosity such as sustainable chemistry, chemical biology, and computational chemistry - where chemistry and digital skills meet.

Your lab work will follow modern environmentally responsible chemistry practices that are used in industry.

You’ll learn from inspiring academics at a Russell Group university, where innovative research feeds directly into your degree.

Our academics are advancing battery technology for cleaner energy, designing drugs for hard-to-treat cancers, and using digital modelling to tackle infectious diseases. They’ll share this expertise and enthusiasm with you in lectures and seminars.

You’ll also work with these academics during research projects and advanced practicals.

When you graduate, you’ll be ready for a career as a professional chemist. You’ll also have transferable skills that open doors to other sectors.  Our graduates have gone on to work in finance, banking, accountancy, sales and marketing, management, patent law and teaching.

Transfer to an MChem course

All our chemistry degrees share core modules in the first and second year. This means you can choose to transfer to an MChem couirse at the end of year 2.

We regularly review our courses to ensure and improve quality. This course may be revised as a result of this. Any revision will be balanced against the requirement that the student should receive the educational service expected. Find out why, when, and how we might make changes.

Our courses are regulated in England by the Office for Students (OfS).

Take a tour around our recently refurbished chemistry facilities.

Find out about the equipment and support available during lab sessions and how we’ve minimised waste.
