ÃÛÌÒTV the application of acoustics in technology, from immersive audio systems to noise and vibration control. Investigate the effects of unwanted noise on our health and wellbeing and design solutions to reduce their impact.
Develop the skills to work in fields such as noise control, audio engineering, architectural acoustics or biomedical ultrasounds. We'll train you in industry-standard measurement and simulation techniques. You'll study at our Institute of Sound and Vibration Research, where we have one of the largest anechoic chambers in the UK. Work alongside experts in fields as diverse as reducing noise pollution from transport or using the sound of bubbles to learn about the natural world.

Vibration is source of noise and discomfort, but also useful in engineered solutions. Students explore how vibration can be optimised through modelling, experimentation and sound design.
We provide a unique, stimulating and supportive learning environment, covering elements of both mechanical and electrical engineering, whilst providing a specialised education in acoustics.
