Dr Bani Anvari is a Visiting Academic in the Transportation Research Group (TRG) within the Faculty of Engineering and the Environment at the ÃÛÌÒTV.

The research interests of my group include urban planning, traffic and infrastructure modelling, shared space modelling, mixed traffic modelling, crowd dynamics, evacuation modelling, transportation and infrastructure planning, operation and maintenance, autonomous vehicles (AVs), and vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) / vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) communications in order to create intelligent transportation systems (ITSs).

Research interests

Our research aim is to

  • investigate the efficiency and scalability of existing traffic models for the integration of connected and autonomous vehicles.
  • model connected vehicles and semi-/fully- automated vehicles in a simulation platform.
  • develop mobility models for the ever-growing shared urban spaces with pedestrians, smart autonomous delivery robots and autonomous vehicles.
  • maintain the mobility and transport networks during systemic failures and support urban designers to continuously evolve street layouts.
  • developing optimisation strategies for multi-objective holistic systems.
